We then meet Poppy, who is the down-to-earth sister of the Crown Consort of this fictional country, who has finished a stint working for UNICEF and now is on her way to business school so she can create her own sustainable and ethical fashion line. Casey is retiring from undercover investigative journalism at the young age of 32, but her boss shows up with one last job. Admittedly the stakes seemed higher than they really were, but it was a good hook. I was hooked from the beginning, where we meet Casey as she's changing her appearance in a gas station bathroom. Royal Expose was my first book in the series it stems from, so I don't think I'm fully able to appreciate all of the side characters as much as I might have had I known about that going in, but this was still a good standalone/first in a spinoff series. Received an ARC from BSB through Netgalley for this review

She has really shown promise that she can write beyond the romance and I'm hoping we may see a mystery-romance from her sometime in the future. I would've given this 4 stars but I'm reducing 0.5 because I wish Ms. Another perk of a series is that you're always wondering who the next MC is going to be. Their parts in the book really showed how they were as a couple and didn't just show them living happily ever after and showed the trials and tribulations that they faced too. The best part of reading a series is that it also serves as an epilogue for the couple from the preceding book in the series - in this case, Lennox and Rosa. You're rooting for them to get together and also hoping to catch a glimpse of their life in the next book in the series. The book flows smoothly and the characters have good chemistry. One of the villains from the 2nd book makes a comeback here and we see some intrigue and action as well. I thought it would be a standard 'enemies-to-lovers-to - uncovering secret identity' romance but I was pleasantly surprised.

This story focusses on Poppy King, Lennox' sister from the 2nd book, and a reporter, Casey James. Formulaic or not, I love her books and this 'Royals' series is no exception. It's usually a butch-femme romance with 2 people finding themselves as well as each other with a little bit of spice thrown into the mix. When you start reading a Jenny Frame book, you know what you're getting into.
